FIN CH Kipazin Aasa Vali "Arska"

Owner:
Kirsti Forstén

Arska was born on the 24th of October 1999 in my kennel. Arska is the sire of Kipazin W. The litter W is nothing but a pure accident. Arska has have eye problems all his life, so he really was not ment to be a sire of any litter. What is good in litter W: the characters. As to for eyes: three out of four have problems with eyes.

I took the A-puppies to the eye examination at the age of 6 weeks, as we use to do with Kromis here in Finland. The vet noticed the eye problems of Arska as early as that. I will always remember my feelings after the eye examination. I sat on the back seat of our car, Arska was on my lab and I was crying all the way home. After the first shocking moments and after some very thorough discussions with the vet, we decided that Arska may lead a full life in full sail with us, though his eyes are not healthy. Arska has never seen very well and nowadays he is blind.

We left Arska home not only because he was not able to see properly but also because I wanted to know, if it is possible to live a good life (a good life for both the owner as well as, and above all, the dog) with a visually handicapped dog. During these over eight years I have noticed, that the good life really is possible. We have taught each others a lot, Arska and I, and I hope we still have a lot of common experiences and adventures waiting for us.

With Arska I can not take an interest in every hobby, that is true. But Arska is a great guard of little puppies, when they are playing outside. Arska is a good watchdog. Arska is a splendid judge of human nature. Arska is a very social dog. Arska is an excellent tracker. Arska is a charming dog, everybody seems to love Arska, though Arska has also his weak points.

Arska has a short fuse as for running and rushing indoors (I must admit that I might be a bit guilty of that behavior, because I also have a short fuse as for raging indoors). Arska stands quite well the unfamiliar dogs, even males, as long as they are behaving calmly. Above all Arska is a reliable friend of her owns, a real loving companion.

On December in 2005, Arska took the elementary course of dog searching arranged by Koiraetsijät ry.
